Shopping
A brand and website that reflect an established shopping destination
Midstream's shopping destinations already served an affluent community. FGX helped carry the change from Shopping in Midstream to Midstream Shopping through the brand and website, connecting the refreshed identity with the centres, stores and services people came to find.

01 / The client challenge
An established destination with a new identity
Midstream Shopping represents a collection of shopping destinations and the businesses within them. Its website speaks to residents looking for shops and services, visitors planning where to go, and businesses considering premises in the area.
The rebrand from Shopping in Midstream needed to express the destination's existing character and affluence. The commercial task was to give that established offer an identity and digital presence that represented it more clearly. A new name was part of the change; how the destination presented its centres and tenants mattered just as much.
02 / The identity
Making the brand useful to its different audiences
FGX brought rebranding, website design and development into the same assignment. This connected the way Midstream Shopping presented itself with the practical information its audiences needed: which businesses were there, where to find them and how to enquire about premises.
The website designs made those needs visible. The homepage designs included routes to stores and news, while the directory design organised tenants by centre. Separate office and retail enquiry designs recognised that a prospective tenant had a different reason for visiting from someone looking for a restaurant or shop.
This gave the work a clear organising principle. The shared identity would represent the destination as a whole, while the content would keep each centre, tenant and type of enquiry distinct.

03 / Discovery and orientation
Connecting the identity to the places and businesses behind it
The homepage redesign placed the Midstream Shopping name over photography of the destination, bringing the identity and the physical setting together. Prominent store and news links gave visitors concrete starting points. Categories and featured tenants extended the presentation beyond the opening image to the businesses that make up the destination.
The directory design connected centre selection with tenant names, unit numbers and maps. Each piece answered a practical question: which centre, which business and where within that centre? A retained view of the live directory in October 2026 shows the Midstream Shopping identity alongside tenant information and a centre map.

04 / Different customer needs
A separate route for prospective tenants
For businesses considering premises, the enquiry designs distinguished office applications from retail opportunities. These concepts show how the website could address commercial property interest alongside everyday shopping needs. The retained October 2026 directory view provides a separate example of the identity in use.

05 / The website rebuild
Supporting the change online
FGX's scope included rebuilding the website, moving from shoppinginmidstream.co.za to midstreamshopping.co.za and organic search optimisation. The new address reflected the new name, bringing the website's identity into line with the rebrand.
Together, the brand, content and development work addressed more than the appearance of a homepage. The assignment connected how the destination was presented, how its individual businesses were organised and how people could discover it through search.
06 / The outcome
What changed, and what the search figures show
The work carried the Midstream Shopping identity into website designs for shoppers and prospective tenants, with the identity also visible in the live store directory. Search Console provides a separate measure of the website's recorded discovery: the new domain received 1,827 Google Web search clicks and 23,963 impressions in September 2026, a complete calendar month.
In the October 2026 month-to-date snapshot, the new domain recorded 4,025 Google Web search clicks, compared with 669 on the former domain for the matching October 2025 period. That is a 502% increase, rounded to the nearest whole percent. The comparison uses different domain properties over matching month-to-date periods; it does not isolate the contribution of the rebrand, website work or search optimisation.
These figures demonstrate recorded search activity. They do not establish additional store visits, tenant enquiries or sales. The case shows how FGX connected an existing destination's positioning with its brand and digital presentation, supported by a measurable record of online discovery.
